Supporting Children with SEND Needs
At Home-school Tutoring North London and West London, we understand that every child learns differently. For children with Special Educational Needs (SEND), tailored support is essential to helping them reach their full potential. Whether a child has emotional, mental health, or physical needs, our bespoke approach provides the necessary support to empower them on their learning journey.
Our Approach to SEND Tutoring
We believe that happiness and a sense of safety are fundamental to learning. An unhappy child, whether at home or school, cannot reach their full potential. Our role as tutors is to be part of the solution, creating a positive and supportive environment where every child feels safe, heard, and empowered.
Our approach begins with building rapport. We work closely with the child to understand their unique learning needs and create goals that align with their abilities and aspirations. When necessary, we also collaborate with their school to ensure continuity in their education, providing progress reports and feedback to keep them aligned with their peers.
In cases where children are unable to attend school, we partner with Local Authorities (LA) and Pupil Referral Units (PRU) to provide tailored support, either in the home or in a safe public space. We also cater to children with Education Other than at School (EOTAS) packages, creating customized learning plans that focus on their specific needs and interests.
For children with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP), our tutors are skilled in adhering to these plans, ensuring the child receives precisely the support they require. We employ a variety of teaching strategies, such as multisensory learning, structured teaching, and scaffolding, to meet each child’s learning style.
What are the benefits of a specialist SEND Tutor?
Our specialist SEN tutors bring patience, consistency, and understanding to every session. We work at a pace that suits your child, allowing them to progress in a way that feels natural and encouraging.
As a parent, you can trust that your child’s educational needs are being met through an individualised approach. We maintain open communication with both parents and tutors, adjusting learning plans as needed to ensure the most effective and supportive tutoring experience.
We are also available to offer additional support by working with Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCo) and other professionals as necessary.
How We Can Help SEND Families
We understand the challenges that come with navigating the SEN landscape. As a parent of a SEN child, Lucy Lambert is acutely aware of the difficulties parents face when it comes to securing the right support for their children. From reinforcing school learning to boosting confidence and applying for EHCPs, we are here to assist every step of the way.
In addition to tutoring, we provide guidance to families exploring Education Other than at School (EOTAS) or flexible learning options. We work with parents to design bespoke timetables and lesson plans that meet their child’s educational needs, whether fully or as a supplement to existing schooling.
Every plan is customized to the child and their family, with a full discussion about the most effective way to support their education.
We Partner with Local Authorities for SEN and EOTAS Tuition
At Home-school Tutoring North and West London, we are proud to partner with local authorities to provide high-quality, tailored tuition for students who are unable to attend school. Our services are designed to meet the diverse needs of these students, offering comprehensive support that aligns with the educational goals set by local authorities.
Education Otherwise Than at School (EOTAS) Packages
We collaborate with local authorities to deliver Education Otherwise Than at School (EOTAS) packages, offering a flexible and individualized approach to education. Our EOTAS services are fully funded by the local authorities, ensuring that students receive the right support. We work alongside other providers within the EOTAS framework to offer a holistic, multi-faceted educational plan that caters to the unique needs of each child.
SEND Tutoring Services
As part of our commitment to supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), we offer specialist tutoring services in partnership with local authorities. We provide full case management, progress monitoring, and detailed reporting to ensure each child’s educational journey is supported and tracked. Our SEND tutoring can be delivered in various settings, including the family home, online, within schools, or in neutral venues, making it convenient for students and families.
Virtual Schools Collaboration
We also work closely with social care teams and virtual schools to provide educational services to children in care, including those residing in children’s homes. Our tutors offer structured, individualized learning plans to ensure these students receive the attention and support they need, fostering academic progress in a nurturing environment.
Supporting the Whole Family
We know that education is never a ‘one size fits all’ process. Many children who struggle in traditional school settings make incredible progress when given 1:1 attention. Working closely with both students and their families, we aim to boost confidence and abilities, ensuring that learning becomes a positive experience once again.
As part of our holistic approach, we can also connect families with therapists and other professionals to help address any underlying issues that may be impacting their child’s education and overall well-being.
